Meet the
2019 Democrats for Coventry Zoning Board of Appeals


Elizabeth Bauer

     Elizabeth Bauer has been a resident of Coventry since 2004. She is well respected for the 14 years she served as Coventry Town Finance Director, receiving multiple awards and recognitions for her fiscal management. She retired in 2017. Her family has a long history of public service, with an uncle elected as a state senator in the 1950's, her mother a teacher, her father was a Town Manager in Connecticut and son William was a member of the North Coventry Volunteer Fire Department. She is currently serving as Vice-Chair of the Zoning Board of Appeals. Beth holds her MPA from the University of Hartford. She is married to Marty Milkovic, they have two sons, and two grandsons.

     “I am running for the ZBA because I believe that our democracy depends on the efforts of a solid and diverse volunteer group. My work history and education make me uniquely qualified to serve.”



 Cheryl Resha

     Cheryl Resha is a Community Health Nurse and Nurse Educator with over 30 years experience in pediatric community health, school health, public policy, K-12 education and higher education. She is a Professor of Nursing at Southern Connecticut State University and was formerly a Manager and School Health Consultent for the State of Connecticut Department of Education. She has her Doctorate in Education and a Masters in Nursing from the University of Hartford.

Claire Twerdy

Claire C. Twerdy

Claire C. Twerdy has lived in Coventry for over 50 years with her husband John, who is a lifelong resident of our lovely town. They have two children and four grandchildren. Their son, Matthew, his wife Denise and daughter, Brianna also reside in Coventry and are all involved in the community for the benefit of our town and schools. Claire and John’s daughter, Nicole, lives in Scotland with her husband, Roy Drum, and their three children. Claire is a retired probate judge, having served Coventry’s residents in this elected position for 15½ years. As an attorney, Claire also was in private practice for over 17 years. During her term as judge, she served on numerous committees of the Probate Assembly. She is a current member of the Probate Court’s Mediation Panel, the Connecticut Probate Practice Book Revision Committee, the National College of Probate Judges and the Connecticut Bar Association.

Locally, Claire served on the Coventry Town Council from 1995 to 1997, the Coventry Pension and Retirement Commission from 1992 to 1995 and the Paralegal Program Advisory Committee at Manchester Community College from 1997 to 2008. She is completing her first term as a full member of the Coventry Zoning Board of Appeals. Claire would like us to know:
